…The times they are a-changin’…

Hello Friends, Family, and Supporters!

Hopefully word has gotten to you, but if not, I am pleased to share that I have officially accepted a new position at Adventures in Missions as their Admissions Interviewer!

My job description is to interview the people applying for Adventures in Missions overseas programs. To learn some more about them, make sure their beliefs are inline with what the Bible teaches, to gauge if they are emotionally healthy enough to join us on the field, and if they aren’t, then I am able to suggest ways for them to gain healing in their life and reapply for a trip at a later date.

As you know, for the past three years up until January of this year, I have been serving on the field as a missionary. I spent that time serving and leading the locals I was blessed to meet on the field, as well as, the World Race Participants.

I loved the ministry I was a part of as a Squad Leader, being able to uplift and encourage the Racers as well as hear their story and the calling the Lord placed on their heart. I felt it was something that the Lord gifted me in; I was able to have pointed one-on-one conversations while having the racer feel at ease being vulnerable and open with me. Every time a racer would open up to me, I felt like they were handing me a treasure, and trusting me to take care of it well. I would walk away from those conversations feeling humbled that God and the racer felt comfortable giving me that intimate part of their story, as they continued to serve on the missions field. It was a way I really saw God move.

I returned to Gainesville, GA this past August for an event called “Project Searchlight,” a conference where squads who just returned from the field gather together one last time to debrief their past 11 months. I had returned to act as a coach for my past participants, hoping the week would be eye opening and life changing for them.

But God had big plans for me as well.

Towards the end of the event, I was approached about the possibility of working at Adventures in Missions as an Admissions interviewer. I was hesitant, but felt God nudge me to learn more. Through a number of meetings and interviews I came to realize that the job of an Admissions Interviewer was not just a 9 to 5 desk job, but a role where I can use the gift the Lord has placed in my life, where I am able to create a safe space for people to be open and vulnerable, to share their story, to rejoice in the way Jesus moves in their lives. A week after being approached about the job, I accepted the offer, and moved to Gainesville, GA 2 days later.

Now, I have been working at Adventures for 2 months! Where has the time gone!

Life in GA has been a bit of a whirlwind. Finding a place to live, finding community, getting the hang of my job, and just trying to transition well has been taking up most of my time… but it’s a joyous season. One with the promises of the Lord being revealed to me around every corner.

I am so excited to see where his promises lead.

Until then, love well!
